Is This Jessica’s Most Awkward Magazine Cover Ever?

Let the September issues roll in! Finally, we’re beginning to see the fall fashion covers of our favorite glossies. It’s the most important issue of the year, which, for most magazines, means the publication’s biggest celebrity cover stars.

Last year, when Jessica Simpson graced the September cover of Elle, we wondered — why? With nothing exciting going on in her life and little sense of style, it just seemed like a strange choice. But in true Elle spirit, they made it work, and Jessica appeared like the country girl next door we knew and loved — circa Newlyweds, of course.

Maybe Elle’s success is what inspired Lucky magazine to use Jessica for their September cover this year. She appears on the cover in a boring black BCBG Max Azria jacket blazer, white D&G tuxedo style button down, and jeans from her own company.

We love Lucky, the outfit looks kind of like what we would expect to see in a Gap ad — from the ’90s. Perhaps it was meant to highlight a classic fall look, but if you ask us, it’s just boring.
One word for Lucky’s September cover: Awkward.

Kind of have to agree with this. Not Jessica Fault. The other pics I’ve seen of her were AMAZING.If they chose the pic on top instead of the one it ended in the cover it would be much better.Lucky was just Unlucky on this. But either way, Jess is being talked and also Lucky. So, it’s already a won challenge.

Jess on Lucky Cover

In her sharp BCBG Max Azria jacket, crisp D&G white poplin tuxedo shirt, and worn-in Malibu Skinny jeans from her eponymous new denim collection, Jessica Simpson looks like an all-American classic on the cover of Lucky magazine’s September issue.

Jessica Simpson: Behind the Scenes at Her Lucky Cover Shoot

What she wore: When she walked into our cover shoot, Jessica Simpson looked super chic and glamorous like a cool street blog photo come to life–Azzedine Alaia leggings (that she admitted were a little itchy), an edgy (but sexy on her) Yohji Yamamoto jacket, sky-high YSL platform pumps, and superstar black-out sunglasses.

Jessica’s old-school shoot playlist: Led Zeppelin, The Police, Tom Petty

A preview of her upcoming shoe and denim collections: Tina, Jessica’s mom, brought a giant bag full of Jessica Simpson footwear and a massive suitcase filled with jeans from her new line. We were all flipping out over the shoe styles, especially the leopard pumps (and flipping out a little more because they weren’t yet available–how cruel!). You would swear they were $800. Try $89!

Jessica Simpson’s guy divides pals

Some want her to kiss off Johnson; others say he’s crazy about her

Friends of Jessica Simpson apparently are splitting into two camps regarding the singer’s new beau, ex-NFL tight end Eric Johnson.

In talking to two longtime Simpson pals, I hear worries about the Yale grad’s ulterior motives when it comes to their friend.

”I don’t care if he’s so smart and all that, I get the sense he’s more interested in people knowing he’s dating Jessica Simpson — rather than truly caring about Jess herself and her needs,” said one source. ( yeah, that looks really like something a friend would say. a dumb friend that starts the phrase with “I don’t care if he’s so smart AND ALL THAT..oh, geezzz)

Another Simpson intimate insists Johnson is a ”fame whore … the kind of guy who is really into dating famous women.” ( OF COURSE he is, just have to check the list of the famous women he dated..let’s see it them..huuum…NONE!)

”Bull—-! That’s totally ridiculous and wrong,” a friend of Johnson’s — dating to his Yale days — said very emphatically Monday. ”This is a really good guy and he’s as nuts about Jessica as she is about him.” ( Now, THIS I believe. Just ’cause it sounds like a real person talking. =) !)

Simpson actually tweeted a photo of her smooching with Johnson over the weekend, adding, ”Romance 101…getting kissed by my Yalie…me not lookin’ so smart… :) but YUM!”

The second Simpson source also said, ”I think it’s a little suspicious that Eric dropped out of Wharton [Business School, where he's been pursuing an MBA program] just to be with Jessica. … It just doesn’t add up.” ( No, It doesn’t. As far as I know the School will be there. Jess may not. cherish the thing you want to keep and it’s not granted ! How suspicious!!)

A longtime business — and personal — associate of Simpson disagrees. ”Someone is overanalyzing this whole thing. Eric is one of the nicest, most decent guys you can find. He can go back and finish up at Wharton whenever he wants.” ( Now, THIS is a smart person. Overanalyzing indeed!)

• After graduating from Yale, where he was a football star, Johnson played for the San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints. There are reports that he and Simpson are already planning to marry, once his divorce becomes final ( which is what ALL normal people do, really! I so DO believe this BULL) — despite only having dated for eight weeks.( I am sure that since Italy – or somewhat before when they WERE dating for 8 weeks, some more days have been added to that. Good Lord!) After her divorce from Nick Lachey, Simpson had highly public romances with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and singer John Mayer.

All my comments are on the article above. Just … oh, I wont even bother…

Her Way: Jessica Simpson ( LUCKY MAG)

Jessica Simpson has undergone a noteworthy personal style evolution, inspired, she says, by coming to terms with some serious body issues over the course of the last year. She stopped fighting her hourglass silhouette, for instance, after realizing that “we all obsess over looking like the perfect Barbie type, and that’s not always what’s beautiful. It’s about making peace with yourself.”

This sea change came out of her globe-spanning journey for her VH1 show, The Price of Beauty—a trip that also provided the tools to diversify her wardrobe. “I encountered such vibrant colors,” says Simpson, recalling shopping excursions that yielded ethnic accessories way out of her casual-pretty comfort zone: ornate Indian bangles, leather bags from North Africa. “Morocco was a huge influence on me when it comes to jewelry and fashion,” she says. “You can’t help but want to buy caftans when you’re there!”

More bits:

“My sister Ashlee will rummage through my closet and find pieces I bought in 2003 and make them feel right now—and like she didn’t even try.”

“What Goes Around Comes Around has the best vintage concert tees. I’m on the permanent waiting list for anything Led Zeppelin.”

“I’m the type of person who will mix Tom Ford Arabian Wood for men with a rose or jasmine-tinged women’s scent.”

“I’m a huge Jean Paul Gaultier fan. His pieces make my waist look good. Yes, they’re an investment, but I’ll have them when I’m old and gray.”

“I like skinny jeans, but I wear them a bit baggy and lower on my hips and roll them up at the bottom.”

“I am really big on beauty products: The Moroccanoil hair line is amazing. It smells like coconut.”

“I’m a bit lazy and don’t want to wash my face right after I work out, so I use these Proactiv wipes. They whisk away all of the sweat.”

“These are my favorite shoes. They are vintage-looking and chic—and make you about six inches taller.” – The Danny shoes

“When I’m traveling, I love a messenger bag that I can wear across my body.”

“I always use waterproof mascara—L’Oréal Voluminous—I think it keeps my lashes up.”

“Tucker makes great blousy, long-sleeved silk tops. Whenever I wear them, I make sure to show off my legs a little bit!”

KKTV Fit Club Celebrity Spotlight on Jessica Simpson

I don’t know if it’s possible to walk by the celebrity magazines at the grocery store check-out, without seeing some kind of story on a celeb’s weight.

Quite often… the target of those stories is Jessica Simpson. She came on to the music scene as a fresh-faced teen pop star more than 10 years ago, along with the likes of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. And through the years, she has undergone tons of public scrutiny for her weight… she’s too thin… then she’s not… it goes on and on.

But I’m here to tell you to forget the hateful comments you might have read on the blogs. Jessica Simpson is nothing but adorable. And I’ll admit it. I’m a fan! But, after talking with her, I’ll REALLY be cheering her on in her career, and in the same quest we’re all on… to be healthy!

I chatted with her Sunday night when she was in Denver for Operation Smile’s International Student Leadership Conference.

We talked about how fitness really is a part of beauty. “When you’re healthy, it just makes you feel better,” said Jessica.

So true. I know when I’ve been eating clean and getting my cardio/weights in – I’m ready to tackle the world! And it’s soooo not about fitting into a pair skinny jeans.

“Just knowing what you put in your body and when you exercise – all that can make you feel as beautiful as you are,” she said. “I believe that.”

And we all have our favorite body part we like to work when we do hit the gym. For me, it’s the glutes. I asked Jessica what she likes to focus on. She didn’t miss a beat. “I always have to work out my abs,” she said. She laughed and went on, saying “They don’t exist! So it’s like – can I ever get ‘em?” ( SOOOO CUTE. she is so candid. ALWAYS!!It’s impressive.)

I’m telling you this girl is just like all of us
- busy schedule, hard at work and looking to make a positive difference in the world. That’s why she continues her work with Operation Smile.

And for the rag-mag haters who try to bring her down, Jessica knows where true beauty comes from
. For her, it’s her faith. “It makes me stand up tall and proud. And the world cannot take me down because I know I can take pride in my love for God.”

SUCH, SUCH A GOOD read. I am happy today.

Jessica Simpson Talks to 11 News About Faith, Beauty and Operation Smile

A pop-culture resume doesn’t get much longer than Jessica Simpson’s. More than 10 years since she burst on to the pop music scene… she’s now known as a singer, songwriter, actress, designer, reality-star, paparazzi target, trend-setter and, maybe less well-known, philanthropist.

Simpson has been working with Operation Smile since 2003. The organization provides free surgeries to kids all over the world to repair cleft lip and cleft palate. Her passion for the cause brought Simpson to Denver Sunday night. She was the keynote speaker for Operation Smile’s International Student Leadership Conference. It’s happening all week at Denver University.

11 News Anchor Stacia Naquin talked with Simpson about her charity work, her faith, style… and the truth about her involvement with American Idol:

Stacia: You are so busy with music, acting, fashion… why is something like Operation Smile so important for you to make time for?

Jessica: Operation Smile is so important to me because it is my heart, it is my soul. I mean there is a lot of things I can do creatively that will drive me and inspire me. But for some reason Operation Smile I can relate to and its kids and its giving somebody a smile that can last forever. To be able to make people smile you go to a comedy club to laugh your butt off or whatever. You go to be entertained by so many things but with Operation Smile you can actually give somebody that smile surgically. It’s really an incredible thing.

Stacia: We talked with the founders of Operation Smile, the McGees’ about how this organization was formed. You’re here talking to a group of kids. They don’t have money, they’re not doctors. Why is it important to make time for them, as the future of the organization?

Jessica: To Support Operation smile you don’t need to have money. You don’t need have anything, you can just be you. If you want to give a little bit… even if your friends go in, it’s like, ok, we’re all going to give ten dollars… and it’s twenty of you… then there’s a smile for somebody. That’s huge! That’s an incredible thing. You’re not having to give too much but you are giving everything to somebody else. I think being vulnerable and really allowing that sacrifice to happen within your life… you can change somebody else’s life. It is important.

Stacia: You’ve been really open about your faith. How does that affect your idea of beauty?

Jessica: God is love and God is my beauty and I am so compassionate about my relationship with God and it makes me who I am right now. It makes me stand up tall and proud and the world cannot take me down, because I know I can take pride in my love for God and I believe everybody else around me can have that as well.

Stacia: In your travels around the world – for The Price of Beauty and your career – what’s the one thing that you’ve seen to be universally beautiful?

Jessica: The universal thing that defines beauty is inner confidence. And I know a lot of people say that, but it is really hard to find. It is really hard to do your own personal homework and really understand who you are as a women, as a girl, like, who you are. What makes you authentic? What makes you unique? Like, who are you? Answering all those questions and really knowing yourself. That is probably the hardest part about feeling beautiful, but it is the most incredible part, when you actually do discover it.

Stacia: You’re from Texas. I’m from Oklahoma. There really is a style to our part of the country. How do you think that differs from L.A.?

Jessica: I think Texas and L.A., in style, are pretty similar.

Stacia: Really!

Jessica: Yeah, I have to say coming from Dallas… women are… it’s really about their outward appearance and wanting to look done and beautiful…

Stacia: … big hair…

Jessica: …and big hair and it’s the same in L.A. Unless they are trying to look grungy. And, like, when you try to look grungy that’s kind of weird. ((laughs)) Just be grungy!

And of course, we asked Jessica about American Idol. A lot of folks have said she’s on the short list to be a judge. She told us there was a meeting where it was discussed. But for now, that’s all there is to report.

LOVED the interview. some parts of Jess’ talk are almost poetic…

Entourage: Bottoms Up – Review

….And that’s all from this episode! I thought it was a mediocre, yet pretty funny one. It didn’t do much to progress the plot forward except for teasing the upcoming, juicy battle between Ari and the Hot Revengeful Agent chicks. But it was definitely the sexiest episode of the year when you include Sasha Grey, Jessica Simpson and a half-naked Mrs. Ari. The cameos from Tyson and Simpson were both solid.
